Famous cities and places in China
Tiananmen and Tiananmen Square

Located in the center of Beijing, Tiananmen Square is the largest square in the world. It covers an area of 44 hectares and can hold one million people. On October 1,1949, the square was where the People's Republic of China was inaugurated.
The Forbidden City

The Forbidden City is China's most imposing architectural masterpiece. It represents many aspects of China's long history and is the largest museum of oriental art in the world. Located in the center of Beijing, the Forbidden City was built between 1406 and 1420. Twenty-four emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties once lived there. The entire palace covers an area of 72 hectares and boasts over 9,000 rooms and halls. Walking through the palace, visitors will have the felling of passing through a historical corridor.
The Great Wall

China's Great Wall is the only man-made object visible from satellites and is one of man's most remarkable accomplishments. Construction of the Great Wall began in the 7th century B.C.. This magnificent wonder starts at Shanhai Pass in the east and ends at Jiayu Pass in the west, stretching more then 6,000 kilometers.
The Temple of Heaven

Located in the southeast of Beijing, the Temple of Heaven was built in 1420. Ming and Qing emperors went there to worship heaven and pray for good harvests. Different from the Forbidden City with yellow tiles and red walls, this temple adopts blue as its major color, suggesting the sky.
Beijing Shichahai

Early in the morning, we start the venture into the Shichahai area with Zhou, a newspaper delivery woman. Shichahai area is among the few areas in Beijing where the Hutong alleyways and the courtyard houses are preserved. No matter how small, each family here has a little courtyard, all to its own, or to share with neighbors.

Old Harbin is one of the few Chinese cities started adapting the Paris model in City planning, building modern highrises in the outskirt as the new town leaving the old architectural remains mostly intact.
The rime in Jilin province and ice carvings in Harbin city give visitors mild and light feeling. The rime on the twigs of tall willows looks like the jade and silver thing, while the pine trees are like giant silver flowers. At night in Harbin, the ice carvings are shined by lamps which change colors constantly. They are transparent as glass, but more sensitive to any dim light and shadow. Someone say that ice formed from water and is difficult to be carved, but I believe that the inner structure and inner vitality of ice could by acquainted, then proper techniques would word out the best expressions of them.
